Francey Partsch VA Hospital Serenity Garden ....... Kennie Ruth Gimple We meet the first Wednesday of the month in members homes. The meetings begin at 1:30 p.m. We usually have a guest speaker each month. We have a maximum membership of 45. There is an application process and usually a waiting list to join. Dues are $15.00 a year. We recently donated $8,500 from the $10,000 raised from calendar sales. The Botanical Gardens received $5,000 for three projects, and the Palisade Chamber of Commerce received $1,000 for concrete planter boxes to be placed on downtown's Main Street. Also, the Colorado State University Cooperative Extension received $1,935 for a new rose bed at the Mesa County office. We have a long list of projects we have done for the community, but our most current one is the Rose Garden at Lincoln Park that we maintain every year. We have contributed over $2,500.00 to the Career Center for a butterfly garden, a water feature with aquatic plants and a bird sanctuary. We donated a bench near the Butterfly House on the Colorado Riverfront Trail, designed and planted an ornamental grass garden at the Colorado State University Mesa County Cooperative Extension office, and donated $2,000.00 to the Botanical Gardens for a water feature and aquatic plants. We have one main fund-raiser project a year which is a trip to different areas, where we visit different botanical gardens and other places of interest. We sell this trip first to Garden Club members and then to other members of the community. We use the profits on the projects of our choice in Grand Junction.
